The slanted rain fell past my window. A crackling fire warmed the hearth. Orange danish and spiced tea Waited on fine china and silver trays. A slowly-savored book lay on the table, Soon to be moved by patient hands To the ensconcing fireside chair.
A perfect day.
Rounded white moon Resting in a tree, Nearly transparent Against the blue sea Of sky so bright . . . Then the night– When all shall know Thy softened glow, And bask in their task With sight from thy light.
Blue sky above, blue sea below, Scarcely in-between did show. Beyond most clouds, beneath the rest, To put man’s spirit to the test. Zooming, soaring like a bird, At one time it was thought absurd.
Working, learning through the years, With many triumphs as well as tears, To view the world with thoughts unfurled, Places man once deemed as squirreled. Grasp it then, and make it thine. Then grow in life with what you find.
CHOCOLATE BOX WORLD*
Trapped inside a chocolate box world, Shrouded in sweet bliss, Afraid to visit places unfurled, To view the more and the less.
Try again to live life free– A small, but valuable life to share. There’s so much more to do and see; A chance to grow if you dare.
Come out of your shelter And be not dismayed. Peace is not lacking– It’s only delayed.
* “Chocolate Box” is an expression taken from the sentimental, idealistic pictures that were sometimes on chocolate boxes decades ago.
To understand not and not be understood, This is not good. Regret.
To understand and be understood, This is good. Rejoice.
To understand and take a stand For all that is good–and be understood, This is very good. Take voice!
